4 Months Old (12-27-10)

Posted by Lisa at 12:42 PM 0 comments
Physical Changes:
She's getting taller and bigger.  She's 25&3/4 inches (97 percentile) and 15.2 lbs (75 percentile). She's getting into the cute baby look and losing the newborn look.

Eating and Sleeping Habits:
She's going longer between meals, which is great.  During the last month, she still got up once during the night, then one more time around 6-7.  She slept 9 hours the last two nights!! Woo Hoo!!  She's going to have rice cereal tonight for the first time.

New Accomplishments, Skills, and Talents:
She is grabbing for toys and can bring the hanging ones to her.  She has made a couple of toys play music.  She is trying REALLY hard to roll over.  She's almost there.  She did roll over once on Dec. 18th, but hasn't since. She's chewing a lot on her thumb and fingers.

New Places and Experiences:
Laynie was baptized into the Catholic Church on December 12th.  She did great...no tears...must be all of those baths!  Karen and Jimmy flew in from Colorado.  Grandma Pitts, Rik, Rob, Tracy, Ashley and Jeremy drove down from Tulsa.  Matt and Elizabeth went also.  Maycie was part of the church pageant prior to Mass, then we had the baptism after Mass.  It was very nice.
Laynie loves to look at lights!  So we took all of the girls to Chickasha to look at their light display.  The girls had fun playing on the playground surrounds by the thousands of lights.  It wasn't too cold, so it was fun.  Laynie just kept looking around at the lights.
Laynie also had her first Christmas.  We had all of the girls for the week before Christmas...so we went shopping, to see Harry Potter, ice skating, and the Science Museum Oklahoma.  It was a fun week.  Then we celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve.

Favorite Things and Activities:
She still likes to watch football  haha!  She's so alert looking at everything.  She still likes to look at lights.  She also likes Patty Cake, Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Rock A Bye Baby.  She likes raspberries on her belly and being talked and sung to. She likes to play on her mat and play in her exercise saucer/table.  She "talks" to you and back.  The KiKi kitty discovered her this month...it was too cute.  She even said,"oh Mama..."  Ok she didn't mean to, but it was awesome!

**I have to add...tonight she rolled over 3 times!  She's got it now!

Physical Changes:
She keeps changing in her looks and losing that newborn look, and has that cute chubby baby look.   She hasn't lost any of her hair.
Eating and Sleeping Habits:
I wish I could say that she is sleeping through the night, but she gets up pretty regularly at 3-ish and then between 5-6am.  She goes to bed between 9-11.  If she goes to bed early, then she's up at 11:30, then 3:00.  She's still congested at night, and has trouble breathing easily.
New Accomplishments, Skills, and Talents:
She smiles and "talks" to us.  It's like she's having a conversation. She's doing really well about focusing on faces.  Lately she's been watching TV~ how crazy is that! Brandon noticed that she watches football and kicks her legs and moves her arms.  She's trying really hard to roll over on her belly.  She's almost there.  She just has to figure out what to do with her elbow.  She's also found her thumb and fist.
New Places and Experiences:
Laynie had her first Halloween.  She dressed as Blues Clues, and we put her in the Moby wrap.  She went trick-or-treating with her big sisters.   She also had her first Thanksgiving.  She got to see Aunt Karen and meet Uncle Jimmy.  She will also get to see her Tulsa family tomorrow.  She also started going to the babysitter this month.  The first week, she would only eat 2 oz a day.  She got sick Thursday with a stomach virus, then I got it Friday, Brandon Saturday, Maycie and Hailee Monday, Rylee Thursday...it hit us ALL!  The second week, she did a lot better... By the third week, she decided the bottle was okay.  She just had to have a size 2 bottle.
Favorite Things and Activities:
She likes to be sung and talked to.  TV. She likes to look at lights and the fans. She likes to look around at everything.  She'll let me read to her sometimes.  She likes to eat!

First Week Back to Work

Posted by Lisa at 8:23 AM 0 comments
Well my first week back to work began November 8. During that week Laynie did great except that she wouldn't eat. The sitter could only get her to take 2 oz the whole day. On Thursday Laynie was sick and couldn't keep anything down. It was so sad. By Friday night I had it all night...ugh! I tried to go to the OU game with Brandon and was miserable! Brandon got it Saturday night. Maycie and Hailee Monday. Rylee Thursday. One nasty bug! We are always healthy, so hopefully this is the end of it.
11/15-11/19: This week at the sitter's Laynie's been drinking a lot better. 6-9 oz. She uses a syringe. What a patient lady! Finally Friday Laynie took the bottle! Yay!
11/19: Last night was the first night for Laynie to sleep in her crib. She's getting too big for the bassinet now. She's officially 12 weeks old haha. Now if she would sleep all night~
Today we get all the girls, so we're going to get our picture taken with Santa. More to follow...

Where's the Sleep?

Posted by Lisa at 9:22 AM 0 comments
We have a mystery on our hands...it's the case of the missing sleep... Only one person can answer that question, and she won't talk.  Well, can't talk.   It all started last week-ish when our suspect started staying awake later and later at night, and still getting up about the same time.  Granted, we attributed the congestion to the missing sleep.  Last night, the little one in question, was up all evening and didn't even think about sleeping until after 2am.  Then was up at 6.  I'm convinced she's hidden the sleep somewhere, and it's time we've found it.  (If you have knowledge of the whereabouts of this missing sleep, please contact Sleep-deprived Mother.  Thank you.)

Fun Day with Laynie

Posted by Lisa at 4:26 PM 0 comments
We have had a fun Laynie, Daddy, Mommy day.  We miss the girls, but Laynie is showing her fun little personality today.  Brandon had a chance to play with her while she was in a good mood.  She's smiling back at us and making funny noises.  We may have gotten a half laugh out of her too.

Laynie's Second Month:
Physical Changes:  She's getting chubbier...so cute!  Getting longer too.

Eating and sleeping habits:  She was going to bed around 9:30 and getting up just once around 2 or 3 then again about 7.  Now she's moved into going to bed around 11 and getting up about 4 or 5.  She's staying awake most of the morning and taking a 3 hour nap around 10~ish.  She kind of catnaps the rest of the day.  She's not eating a whole lot in the mornings, but eating a lot in the evenings.  But she's moved out of that evening, fussy crying.  Over the last couple of days, she's been having trouble with allergies or something.  She's very congested and having trouble breathing and sleeping.  We are constantly sucking out her nose. :(

New skills, accomplishments and talents:  She still is making funny faces and noises.  It seems like sometimes she's trying to talk to me.  She lets you know that she's unhappy for sure.  lol!  Yesterday she hit her frog toy that lights up and sings.  It's strung across her carrier.  She looks around at everything, like she doesn't want to miss anything.  She's still not big on faces yet.

New places visited and new experiences:  She won the cutest baby girl contest at Jones Old Timer's Day. Of course she had a built in cheering section with Maycie's ball team and some of my students.  She also went the local church pumpkin patch, and her sissies picked out pumpkins.  She goes to Grandparents' house to stay warm and fed during Maycie's double headers.  Grandma Pitts and Aunt Kim came down for a visit.  They thought she was such a good baby. :0)

Favorite things and activities:  She likes to swing in her swing (now that it faces forward).  She loves to look at the lit butterflies above the swing.  She loves to be held and be talked and sung to.   She likes ceiling fans and lights too.   She's getting a little better about being in a car.  She has a frog toy that is strung across her carrier that sings.  She likes that and to look at the toys.

6 Weeks

Aunt Kimmie
I can't believe the changes just in such a short period of time.  This week Laynie is smiling in the morning and seems like a happy baby.  She's following toys with her eyes really well.  This week she is making and keeping eye contact for a long time.  It's seems like it's finally clicked...this is Mommy's face.  Last week she was really colicky, crying for 2-3 hours at night.  Ever since Thursday, she's been a lot better.  In the mornings she's awake, and she likes to swing in her swing.  Before she would cry, but the swing was swinging side to side.  Now that it's swinging forward, she'll sit contently in it.  It cute to watch her watch the lighted butterflies twirling around the inside of the swing.  She's trying to mimic my expressions too.  Too cute. Now she's making more cooing and cute sounds than grunting all the time.  She likes to be heard. LOL!  Grandma Pitts and Aunt Kimmie came down for a visit Sunday.  Everyone had a good time. It was great to see them too!  Now it's time to think of a date for her baptism...

7 hours of sleep

Posted by Lisa at 1:12 PM 0 comments
Laynie slept 7 hours last night!  The uninterrupted sleep was very welcome.  Brandon has been getting up with her to change her and play with her when she's "bright-eyed" in the middle of the night, and I feed her, so no one sleeps...lol!  She was really fussy and crying a lot yesterday and last night, so she must have just worn herself out.  She's been sleeping all morning too.  Nice!

Old Timer's Day

Posted by Lisa at 4:20 PM 0 comments
The girls and I went to Old Timer's Day, Saturday, Oct. 2nd.  As soon as we got there Rylee met her friend and Maycie met another friend.  Off they went!  I met my friend Susan, "Other Mom," and we looked at the booths.  Maycie was having too much fun cracking confetti eggs on people's heads.

I intended to enter Laynie in the Cutest Baby contest and found out it was at 1pm.  I met up with our neighbor, Liz, there too. We watched the elementary kids sing, and later the high school choir.  Laynie had a full diaper and wanted to eat...so she started crying...it was 12:25...perfect timing.  I walked down to Sonic, and Liz called- They were starting the contest then and giving a final call.  I ran into a teacher friend at Sonic, so she carried the crying Laynie while I pushed the stroller.  They were announcing the contestants as we walked up. So we were just in time...thanks Liz.  The audience determines the cutest baby, so when Laynie was announced, they cheered.  There was a run off between Laynie and one other cute little toddler.  Laynie won...first place. :0)

After that I had to change and feed Laynie.  I met up with Rylee at the Choir booth.  She was drawing Anime' pictures for their fundraiser.  Hailee walked up with Jason shortly after that.  The girls bought air soft bee bee guns and had a blast. Around 3 we were out of money and it was time to go.  Fun time at Old Timer's Day!

She's looking and smiling :)

Posted by Lisa at 11:57 AM 0 comments
Today Laynie looked at me, looked at my face. She also cooed to me, not grunted. She responded to my voice and to a toy frog that makes a jingle noise (on her changing table). She's becoming a little person with her own little personality. I took her to the V Salon to get my hair done. She did great; she looked at all of the many colors.

Yesterday she slept really well most of the morning and early afternoon. We had picture taking time because she did not do well at Penny's Tuesday. I got a big smile in one picture, but it turned out kind of blurry. It was exciting that she was smiling! She also has been lifting her head from day one, but yesterday she lifted her head and chest while laying on her tummy and a little pillow. She kept it up for quite a few seconds.

Laynie is 4 weeks old today

Posted by Lisa at 11:57 AM 0 comments
Laynie is four weeks old today. Time is flying by so fast, so I decided to start a blog to keep up with our little one.  She is holding her head up so well...she started doing that from birth.  She has also rolled from one side to the other side.  She's now looking at us and looking around.  Her hair seems to be getting darker, so she's going to be a brunette.  :)  She takes a great morning nap, and she likes to stroll around our ponds.  We try to go two laps in the morning.
