Where's the Sleep?

Posted by Lisa at 9:22 AM 0 comments
We have a mystery on our hands...it's the case of the missing sleep... Only one person can answer that question, and she won't talk.  Well, can't talk.   It all started last week-ish when our suspect started staying awake later and later at night, and still getting up about the same time.  Granted, we attributed the congestion to the missing sleep.  Last night, the little one in question, was up all evening and didn't even think about sleeping until after 2am.  Then was up at 6.  I'm convinced she's hidden the sleep somewhere, and it's time we've found it.  (If you have knowledge of the whereabouts of this missing sleep, please contact Sleep-deprived Mother.  Thank you.)

Fun Day with Laynie

Posted by Lisa at 4:26 PM 0 comments
We have had a fun Laynie, Daddy, Mommy day.  We miss the girls, but Laynie is showing her fun little personality today.  Brandon had a chance to play with her while she was in a good mood.  She's smiling back at us and making funny noises.  We may have gotten a half laugh out of her too.

8 Weeks Old

Laynie's Second Month:
Physical Changes:  She's getting chubbier...so cute!  Getting longer too.

Eating and sleeping habits:  She was going to bed around 9:30 and getting up just once around 2 or 3 then again about 7.  Now she's moved into going to bed around 11 and getting up about 4 or 5.  She's staying awake most of the morning and taking a 3 hour nap around 10~ish.  She kind of catnaps the rest of the day.  She's not eating a whole lot in the mornings, but eating a lot in the evenings.  But she's moved out of that evening, fussy crying.  Over the last couple of days, she's been having trouble with allergies or something.  She's very congested and having trouble breathing and sleeping.  We are constantly sucking out her nose. :(

New skills, accomplishments and talents:  She still is making funny faces and noises.  It seems like sometimes she's trying to talk to me.  She lets you know that she's unhappy for sure.  lol!  Yesterday she hit her frog toy that lights up and sings.  It's strung across her carrier.  She looks around at everything, like she doesn't want to miss anything.  She's still not big on faces yet.

New places visited and new experiences:  She won the cutest baby girl contest at Jones Old Timer's Day. Of course she had a built in cheering section with Maycie's ball team and some of my students.  She also went the local church pumpkin patch, and her sissies picked out pumpkins.  She goes to Grandparents' house to stay warm and fed during Maycie's double headers.  Grandma Pitts and Aunt Kim came down for a visit.  They thought she was such a good baby. :0)

Favorite things and activities:  She likes to swing in her swing (now that it faces forward).  She loves to look at the lit butterflies above the swing.  She loves to be held and be talked and sung to.   She likes ceiling fans and lights too.   She's getting a little better about being in a car.  She has a frog toy that is strung across her carrier that sings.  She likes that and to look at the toys.

Aunt Kimmie
I can't believe the changes just in such a short period of time.  This week Laynie is smiling in the morning and seems like a happy baby.  She's following toys with her eyes really well.  This week she is making and keeping eye contact for a long time.  It's seems like it's finally clicked...this is Mommy's face.  Last week she was really colicky, crying for 2-3 hours at night.  Ever since Thursday, she's been a lot better.  In the mornings she's awake, and she likes to swing in her swing.  Before she would cry, but the swing was swinging side to side.  Now that it's swinging forward, she'll sit contently in it.  It cute to watch her watch the lighted butterflies twirling around the inside of the swing.  She's trying to mimic my expressions too.  Too cute. Now she's making more cooing and cute sounds than grunting all the time.  She likes to be heard. LOL!  Grandma Pitts and Aunt Kimmie came down for a visit Sunday.  Everyone had a good time. It was great to see them too!  Now it's time to think of a date for her baptism...

7 hours of sleep

Posted by Lisa at 1:12 PM 0 comments
Laynie slept 7 hours last night!  The uninterrupted sleep was very welcome.  Brandon has been getting up with her to change her and play with her when she's "bright-eyed" in the middle of the night, and I feed her, so no one sleeps...lol!  She was really fussy and crying a lot yesterday and last night, so she must have just worn herself out.  She's been sleeping all morning too.  Nice!

Old Timer's Day

Posted by Lisa at 4:20 PM 0 comments
The girls and I went to Old Timer's Day, Saturday, Oct. 2nd.  As soon as we got there Rylee met her friend and Maycie met another friend.  Off they went!  I met my friend Susan, "Other Mom," and we looked at the booths.  Maycie was having too much fun cracking confetti eggs on people's heads.

I intended to enter Laynie in the Cutest Baby contest and found out it was at 1pm.  I met up with our neighbor, Liz, there too. We watched the elementary kids sing, and later the high school choir.  Laynie had a full diaper and wanted to eat...so she started crying...it was 12:25...perfect timing.  I walked down to Sonic, and Liz called- They were starting the contest then and giving a final call.  I ran into a teacher friend at Sonic, so she carried the crying Laynie while I pushed the stroller.  They were announcing the contestants as we walked up. So we were just in time...thanks Liz.  The audience determines the cutest baby, so when Laynie was announced, they cheered.  There was a run off between Laynie and one other cute little toddler.  Laynie won...first place. :0)

After that I had to change and feed Laynie.  I met up with Rylee at the Choir booth.  She was drawing Anime' pictures for their fundraiser.  Hailee walked up with Jason shortly after that.  The girls bought air soft bee bee guns and had a blast. Around 3 we were out of money and it was time to go.  Fun time at Old Timer's Day!
